In short. Your voice never leaves your computer. Sprich has no account and no server that sees your words: text goes only to the AI you connect yourself, or nowhere with a local model. The one thing Sprich receives is an anonymous count, and you can switch that off.
The app. Speech recognition runs on your computer. Your history is stored only on your computer. Text is sent to the AI provider you choose, under your own account, or stays on your computer with a local model. So that names come out right, Sprich adds up to 40 names and terms visible in the window you dictate into, plus the words in your personal dictionary; you can switch the screen part off under "Use screen context" in Settings. Sprich has no account. A few times a day the app checks getsprich.com for updates. Once a day, unless you switch off "Share anonymous usage stats" in Settings, it also sends anonymous counts: a random ID created on your computer, the app version, the platform, which kind of AI is connected, and how many dictations were made and how many of them failed. Never any text, audio or app names, and the website stores no IP addresses with it.
This website. It is hosted by Railway (Railway Corporation, USA). When you visit or download Sprich, the hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the page (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR); this can involve processing in the USA. The site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other services. It counts page visits, where they came from and downloads, without storing IP addresses or anything that identifies you. So that a download counts once, the address is compared for ten minutes as a scrambled value that changes every day, only in memory.
Your rights. Sprich keeps nothing that tells it who you are, so there is usually nothing to look up. You can still ask which data about you is processed, and have it corrected, deleted or restricted, or object to its processing (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). You can also complain to a data protection authority, in Berlin the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit. Write to
